GOP Senate hopeful Connie Mack IV is deploying his mother in a new TV ad, aimed at showing his softer side.

In the 30-second spot, Mack’s mother, Priscilla Mack, says her son was “a good kid” and “a bit of a handful .”

Speaking directly to the camera, Priscilla predicts her son will be “a great senator, just like his dad.”

“Who knew he wants to change the world? But he does,” Pricilla says. “Who knew my other Connie can make a difference?” she adds as the camera focuses on respected former Sen. Connie Mack and the younger Mack sitting in the background.

“Connie cares about people. He’ll work hard, and he’ll do the right thing,” Mack’s mom says of her son.

The ad, entitled “Proud Mom,” is an attempt to soften Mack’s image and tie him to his popular father.

Supported by an over $1 million buy, the new spot will run statewide on both broadcast and cable television starting Tuesday.
