West and Murphy Face Off At Forum

Democrat Patrick Murphy and Rep. Allen West (R-FL) presented their views side-by-side at a candidate forum Thursday morning at the St. Lucie County Commission Chambers.
It didn’t take long for West to talk about the hot topics during the standing room only forum in Fort Pierce.
“I don’t support partial birth abortions and I don’t think it is part of our values if you go in and dismember children in a mother’s womb,” West said. “And furthermore I don’t believe President Obama when he says that any child who survives an abortion needs to die. I think that’s heinous and I think that’s infanticide. You can check.”
Murphy’s comments also got the audience stirred up. “The extremeness of people like my opponent Allen West calling people communist, comparing to the Nazis.”
During the comment there was an outburst from a member of the audience who was then escorted out of the room by two sheriff’s deputies.
Write-in candidate Marilyn Davis Holloman, a nurse practitioner, also participated in the forum. Holloman focused on families and the economy, and on the candidates’ political ads. “I am very disheartened by the amount of money that these candidates have used for their campaigns. I could have used that money for program services.”
After the forum, two of the candidates spoke briefly about the audience’s reaction to their political views. Murphy said, “That’s what politics has come to with the name calling and I hope for a civil environment going forward.”
West added, “It was a good forum, good here in Saint Lucie County in Fort Pierce, I have been here multiple of times.”

PATRICK MURPHY IS A PUNK WITH A CAPITAL “P”. HE REFRRED TO MY FATHER AS A “COWARD” AS WELL AS OTHER NAMES. HE IS THE WORST.
Patrick Murphy has never served his country.
Murphy works for his father who is financing his run for office.
Murphy was a Republican and then became a Democrat when he saw he was living in a democrat dominated S FL.
Murhpy then moved 3 times (Miami-Dade Co, Broward Co. and now PB County) so that he could ‘live’ in a district where a Democrat didn’t hold office.
We need a candidate who has led and protected our troops in dangerous,dangerous countries. Just look at Afghanistan today. Joint Patrols had to be halted because our so-called Afghan ‘friends’ were turning their American-given weapons on the American soldiers who were patrolling with them! Colonel West protected those under his control. And that’s the type of soldier we all want our sons and daughters to serve under. Someone who will PROTECT them!
Thank you, Colonel West. You have this Independents vote. We can’t afford to have a pipsqueak, financed by his father representing us in Congress. We need someone who has experienced the battlefield and is not hindered in his speech.
Your story “West and Murphy face off” is inaccurate. The man removed from chambers and the reaction of the audience came when Murphy said he used to be a Republican but that the Tea Party are Extremists so he became a Democrat. If you are going to report an event you should at least try to get the more important parts correct.
