Rep. Allen West’s campaign released an internal poll memo Thursday showing the congressman leading his Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, 52 to 41 percent.

The campaign highlighted key findings of the survey, including that 34 percent have a favorable impression of Murphy and 33 percent have an unfavorable one. They did not, however, release West’s favorability rating.

The Public Opinion Strategies survey was conducted among 400 likely voters from Sept. 24-25 and has a margin of error of 4.9 percentage points. The party breakdown of the poll was 40 percent Republican and 38 percent Democrat which mirrors the Treasure Coast district.

The Palm Beach Post reports, Murphy consultant Eric Johnson dismissed the West poll as “cooked” and “skewed” and pointed to the 7-point Romney edge as evidence.

Meanwhile, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist sent a fundraising email to Murphy’s supporters on Thursday calling the Democrat “smart, likable, and an attentive listener.”
