Rep. Allen West (R-FL) is out with a new featuring veterans weighing in on the difference between the incumbent and his Democratic opponent, Patrick Murphy.

One veteran in the 60-second spot says the difference between Murphy and West, a former Army lieutenant colonel, “is night and day.”

“Murphy has no ideas, no experience. A guy like Murphy is just going to get up there and start slinging mud,” former Army Sergeant Bill Petraglia says in the spot.

“Here’s a man who never put on the uniform, and he’s telling Allen West that he’s a coward? He doesn’t belong in the same room as Allen West,” former Marine Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Diperna says of Murphy.

“Allen West has been in war, in actual combat,” Petraglia adds.

This is not the first time West has featured veterans in one of his campaign spots. In July, West’s campaign ran an ad featuring a soldier who said the lawmaker saved his life when they served together in Iraq.
