GOP Officials Announce Revised Convention Schedule

August 26, 2012 at 7:54 pm

With Monday’s events at the Republican National Convention cancelled due to Tropical Storm Isaac, RNC officials on Sunday announced the revised schedule for the remaining three days of their Tampa festivities.

FL Gov. Rick Scott, who canceled his Tuesday convention activities to monitor the storm, was not on the revised schedule for Wednesday or Thursday. Former FL Gov. Jeb Bush, who like Scott, was originally scheduled to speak on Monday will now speak Thursday.

GOP officials said on a conference call with reporters that they do not currently have plans for Friday session, instead compressing their four day schedule into three days.

“We are not considering a Friday session,” convention organizers told reporters. “However we have a weather event. We’ll watch the weather and if because of the weather something has to change, we’ll let you know.”

The speakers for the primetime schedule (10-11pm ET) were not changed.

The only official activity on Monday will be the formal gaveling in of the convention and the kick-off of the Republican’s “Debt Clock. GOP officials said they don’t anticipate many delegates showing up for Monday’s ten minute schedule.
