Bob Schieffer Picked To Host Presidential Debate In Boca

August 13, 2012 at 11:08 am

CBS News’ Bob Schieffer will host the Oct. 22 at Lynn University in Boca Raton, according to multiple reports.

In July, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced the debate at Lynn will focus on foreign policy.

The 90-minute debate will be divided into six time segments of approximately 12 minutes each on topics to be selected by the moderator and announced several weeks before the debate.

The debate at Lynn is the final of four planned debates– three presidential and one vice presidential–that will occur in October as part of the 2012 election.

CNN’s Candy Crowley and PBS News’ Jim Lehrer will moderate the other presidential debates, while ABC’s Martha Raddatz was chosen to moderate the vice presidential debate.

The Florida Society of News Editors is partnering with Lynn University on initiatives surrounding the debate, including education meetings with students and the creation of a news feed on the school’s official debate website, debate2012.lynn.edu. FSNE also will host a panel discussion with journalists from Florida’s leading papers to explore topics related to the 2012 election.
