In its first TV ad, a Super PAC largely funded by Democrat Patrick Murphy’s father portrays Rep. Allen West as a cartoonish boxer who “socked it to seniors,” “whacked women,” and “mauled middle-class families” with his policy votes.

Federal Election Commission records show American Sunrise Super PAC received a $250,000 check from Murphy’s dad out of a total $350,000 in contributions, and has spent $179,700 so far. The group also has set up an anti-West website. Super PACs can’t coordinate with candidates, but can raise as much money as they want, often for slam ads.

A second Super PAC against West, titled “Dump West,” hasn’t had any action yet. West said wealthy Democratic supporter George Soros is ready to throw down $5 million against his campaign. Andrew Perez, who filed the Dump West paperwork, did not confirm Soros’ involvement.

A third Super PAC named Treasure Coast Jobs Coalition started by Washington D.C. lawyer James Tyrrell III hasn’t reported activity.

Both Murphy and West are already on TV airwaves. Murphy calls himself a builder in one, and calls West a playground bully in another. West’s four commercials say he’s “just getting started,” talk about teaching, tout himself a military hero, and talk Medicare and Social Security.
