Rep. Allen West (R-FL) is out with a new ad aimed at seniors— a big chunk of the tea party congressman’s potential district.

“When it comes to cutting spending, there must be one rule; that is to keep our promises to America’s seniors. Everything else is on the table,” West says in the 30-second spot.

In the ad, West– a retired Army lieutenant colonel– says he authored a bill cutting hundreds of millions in wasteful defense spending(He is the author of H.R. 1246- which cut the Department of Defense printing and reproduction budget by 10 percent. That bill passed by a unanimous vote of 393 to 0 in April of 2011).

The ad—West’s fourth of the campaign— will run on broadcast and cable television across Florida’s 18th Congressional District.
