New Super PAC Wants To ‘Dump West’

On Wednesday, Democratic activist Andrew Perez announced the formation of “Dump West,” a Super PAC with the aim of raising enough money to unseat the one-term incumbent.
West is among the most visible and well-financed of all congressional candidates, having already raised a record-setting $10 million so far. Perez told FLDemocracy he has a goal of raising $5 million.
In a release announcing the new PAC, Perez made it clear that the group will work towards highlighting some of West’s more incendiary statements, like his claim that a good portion of his Democratic colleagues are Communists.
“We believe Allen West is has been an unproductive, ineffective legislator. He is vulnerable because of his bizarre past personal behavior and extreme positions and rhetoric,” said Perez. “West has made it clear he’d accept the Vice Presidential nomination if Mitt Romney proffered it. He has no shame about his string of false accusations. Allen West’s political career must end now.”
The race between West and his likely Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy is one of the more competitive seats in the country.
