Biden Addresses Law Enforcement Group In Palm Beach
July 23, 2012 at 10:20 am
Vice President Joe Biden spoke to the National Association of Police Organizations Monday morning at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach.
Biden was scheduled to discuss policy involving law enforcement, but said it “doesn’t seem appropriate to talk about that” in the wake of Friday’s mass shooting in Colorado.
The Vice President praised those who helped the victims on Friday, noting the brave men and women who helped others before themselves.
In Aurora, Colorado on Friday it took officers about 90 seconds to get to the movie theater after receiving the first call. Biden told his audience of law enforcement, “thank God there are people like you.”
Biden says the country has endured this pain before, pointing to Virginia Tech, Tucson, Fort Hood and September 11th.
But, he says, in all of those tragedies, citizens step up that make him “confident this country is made of that sterner stuff.”
