The Obama campaign is up with a new ad in Florida and six other swing states, highlighting the president’s commitment to issues important to women and their families.
The spot, “First Law,” emphasizes the first bill Obama signed as president, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The ad says Obama, as the son of a single mother and the father of two daughters, knows that paying women less than men “isn’t just unfair, it hurts families.”
“So the first law he signed was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help ensure that women are paid the same as men for doing the exact same work,” the narrator says, over images of working women. “Because President Obama knows that fairness for women, means a stronger middle class for America.”
Obama’s re-election campaign is spending over $1 million to air the ad in the Tampa, Orlando and Miami media markets, according to sources familiar with the buy.
The 30-second spot is also running in Colorado, Iowa, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia starting today.
A Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday had Obama leading Mitt Romney by 10-points among women in the Sunshine State.
