Obama’s chief strategist David Axelrod will host a “student summit” Wednesday in Gainesville, as part of the campaign’s “Greater Together” initiative designed to engage and mobilize the youth vote.

The “Great Together” effort targets students on college campuses in key swing states, and was launched in hopes of rekindling the connection the Obama camp made with younger voters in ‘08 . Heading the initiative is Valeisha Butterfield-Jones, the former executive director of Russell Simmons’ Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.
